INCITE: to support; to encourage;
As important as it is to grow personally, it is just as important to have fun, be happy and enjoy life! With all the stresses and challenges that single moms endure, it is critical that we have balance: including a healthy social life, a means of relaxation and a sense of fellowship. So, for this reason, we offer opportunities for moms and their children to have fun; from family days and day trips to fitness events and monthly socials. Due to the generous donations from corporate, government and private organizations, many of these outings are offered at little or no cost, so that everyone can participate. This is a wonderful opportunity for both moms and their children to get out of the house and enjoy life, as well as foster new and life-long friendships.
Please see our calendar for a list of social outings, times and dates.
"I just read the article about the single mom's support group. What a wonderful thing you've done! I was a single mother for 6 years & very much felt alone in the world. I worked ridiculous hours to support my son and I. Life was nuts! I managed, though some people don't. I know a lot of women that just can't figure out which way to turn and your support group must really help people. I will be passing on your contact information to a few mothers I know that could use this kind of support. I'm remarried now and no longer struggle to be a single parent. You are doing a wonderful thing helping people! I used to say to people that I wish I could start a group for single parents, but I never acted on it. I'm glad you have! It's great to get involved in the community in any way. It takes a special kind of person to do something for nothing. Cheers to you, and the wonderful things that you are doing!"
"I too am looking for connection with other like-minded women, who have been going through the confusion and realities of trying to create new lives for themselves and defining who they are. Being a single parent is a unique challenge that I'm hoping we can come together on and share our collective wisdom."
